Frost Protection

Protecting plants from Frost:  Annuals, perennials and bulbs may be protected by mulching.

Tall plants can be covered with plastic sheets during periods of severe frost.  Damage is done to plants early morning when the sun heats up the frosted leaves to quickly, causing damage to the tissues.

Walls and hedges also help to reduce frost-damage and tender plants should be set out near a north-facing wall – such walls absorb heat during the day and radiate it at night.
